The only pics I take of Monroe lately are very ragamuffiny, because those are the ones that crack me up. She always looks like I haven't done her hair or she's wearing crazy clothes that she's come up with. She never looks like that at the beginning of the day. Believe it or not, I dress her in cute little outfits and I actually fix her hair. It just all goes to pot by the end of the day.
Exhibits 1 & 2 taken this afternoon:
Please let me explain the above pictures...She loves sporting various hats and scarves from the coat closet. Here, she had combined two looks--kind of a doo-raggy snow cap thing. She's wearing that outfit, because when I put her down for her nap I didn't think she would be comfy in the heavy sweater and skinny jeans she had been wearing. And, well, I really don't know how to explain the shoes. They just happened.
So anyway, I made a pact with myself yesterday, that I would take some time today to take some really cute pictures of Monroe. We have the cutest area on the side of our house where some daffodils are growing and I thought that would be the perfect spot. It was pretty nice yesterday, so I figured it would be equally nice today and I could dress her in a very springy outfit. Well, wouldn't you know it--I wake up this morning to snow covering the grass and car! That's Chicago for you:) I guess I'll try again on Friday.
Today, Rosie and I met our friend, Kelsey, at Yorktown Mall for a little lunch and shopping. She had surprised me when I found out I was pregnant with a gift card to "Pea in the Pod"! I had decided to hold onto it until I was feeling exceptionally yucky...well, that day was today. I really wanted her help and opinion on some maternity shirts. I hate buying maternity clothes on my own for some reason.
By the way, I officially started wearing some maternity pants last week. I really could keep wearing my normal pants, but why not be extra comfortable when I have the chance?! I could live in maternity pants (not the paneled ones, but the ones with elastic). Oh, elastic, how I love thee! It feels very good to be back in them!
So, back to the shirts--I found a few that I really loved! I am so glad that Kelsey was there, though. Her opinions were so helpful and she is always so good with Monroe. Here's what I came home with:
I found this shirt at Gap. They only had it in a large, but it will definitely be good as I grow. I think I will need to sew some gathers in the back with elastic thread and that should make it fit great.
This is one that I found and loved, but was a little unsure if it looked alright. Kelsey convinced me and I'm really glad I got it.
This is my favorite part of the shirt. I love the lace on the shoulders! So cute.
This is probably my favorite. It's kind of hard to see the details, but the neck is very ruffly and cute. I like that I can wear it at work, but also casually.
It was a very successful trip. Kelsey also helped me find the cutest sweater for Monroe at Crazy8 for only $3. I love that store. They have the cutest stuff and are usually reasonably priced. Their shoes are ADORABLE! Check them out online if you don't have one near you.
Tonight, I tried my hand at Vege-Chicken Fried Rice. It turned out very yummy. Mark and I both really enjoyed it, but it was Monroe that LOVED it. She couldn't get enough. I love when I can find a food that she really likes. I will definitely have to make it more often.
I thought it might be fun for me to start documenting my recent cravings, just so later I can look back and see how nuts they were. So here we go, these are the foods that I have been craving lately:
Strawberry Banana Smoothie (Mark made me one last night)
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich with Fritos (Mark also made me this--he's real good to me)
Very Thin Crust Pizza with Green Olives (Ordered last week)
Sprite with a Lime (I take care of this craving ALOT, although, because I have been sick I have been abstaining.)
I'm sure this list will only grow. Thanks for reading:)

Stephanie, this fried rice looks so good, will you tell me how to make it? Also, I made an asparagus soup today and I thought of you because I know how much you love the one in Cancun. I can't remember if it is like it but I will send you the recipe or possibly just blog it in the next few days! Love you and love reading your blog!
Thanks, sis! I'll email you the recipe.
I'd like the fried rice recipe, as well, please! It looks delicious! I also think that you found some great maternity items! I love that dress! Good work, Steph. And I think all of the pictures of Rosie are adorable and precious ... even the raggedy ones ... because Rosie can't look anything but cute ... even in her Daddy's shoes. :)
